The numbers are staggering.  Over 16 million Americans served in the military during WWII and over 450,000 were killed in action.  Colorado lost some 3500 of its sons and daughters as the "Greatest Generation"  put on uniforms, left home and defended freedom around the world.  They were called to places they could never find on a map.  Guadalcanal, Bastogne, Anzio, Tarawa and Normandy just to name a few.  Today, on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the end of WWII, there are 2 million WWII veterans alive to tell the story.  Time is doing what the enemy couldn't, taking our WWII Patriots from us.

KEZW is dedicating the next year to honoring WWII veterans.  On this page you'll see a clock counting down to the 65th anniversary of the end of the war, August 15, 2010.  Every weekday on the Breakfast Club, at 8:15a, we'll share "This Day in 1944", news from the war 65 years ago that day.  We'll also introduce our Studio Patriot of the Day, a WWII veteran, living or deceased, who's story of service has been shared by their proud family.  200 veterans will be recognized between November 2nd 2009 and August 15th, 2010.  We'll also be hosting events throughout the year honoring the heroes of WWII.  It's our way of sharing one last, memorable salute while many who lived through it are around to appreciate it.

To make this tribute special, we need your help.
Please nominate a member of your family who served in WWII to be one of our Studio 1430 Patriots.  To nominate a family member, fill out the form on the BOTTOM of this page.  Check this page, beginning November 2, 2009, as we feature these servicemen and women for the next year.  You can also submit a nomination by mail to:  Studio 1430 Patriots, 4700 S. Syracuse St., Ste. 1050, Denver, Co. 80237: make sure you include all the info that we request on the form.

Studio 1430 would like to thank all veterans for their service, and hopes you'll join us in paying special tribute to the men and women of WWII, both the homefront warriors and those that served overseas.  The world changed forever on December 7, 1941 and we say thanks to those who sacrificed so much to make sure Freedom stood strong.

Please fill out the short below for your veteran to be considered to be one of our "Studio 1430 Patriots". Please describe your veteran's service carefully, but in 150 words or less, as we will be using this text to highlight your patriot on our pages.

After you complete the form, you will go to a PICTURE UPLOAD page, so you can upload a picture of your veteran, preferably in unifom during WWII.  If the picture contains other people besides your vet, tell us in the desciption area of the picture upload page, which one is your vet. Ex: "John is the third person from the right, without a helmet."

All branches of US military service, both men and women, serving overseas or stateside during WWII will be considered as long as they were honorably discharged. Anyone who served is special to us... from the cook to the nurse to the pilot. The ordinary serviceman/woman or the decorated hero.
