Originally, Pierce wanted to pursue a career in teaching; however a class in public speaking changed his future. “I went into the class not knowing what to expect, I didn’t have a lot of experience speaking in front of people.” After one speech, Pierce was hooked. “I loved being in front of people, I had a natural knack for it.” As soon as the semester ended, Pierce changed his major to broadcasting and never looked back.
Recently graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver in the spring of 2009, Pierce began his career as an intern at KEZW’s sister station Alice 105.9. After one year as a high profile unpaid intern, Pierce caught on at KEZW as the producer of the Restaurant Show and Ask the Garden Pros in March of 2008. “Producing is a blast, but I knew I wanted to be on air. I started to pester Rick Crandall about letting me on, and of course being the new guy I had to wait a little while, but Rick finally caved.” Pierce was given a weekend hour here and there for a few weeks before finally becoming the stations back up DJ, serving when one of the other DJs took vacation time. “I love being on air, I have too much fun playing this great music and cracking the microphone that it seems unfair to ask for a paycheck.”
Pierce is excited to be taking over as the evening voice of Studio1430. “I feel extremely fortunate to have my first full time gig as a radio personality straight out of college and I’m ready to have some fun.”
You can hear Pierce on Night Sounds on Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri from 7-11 and Wed from 8-11 on the station that swings the night, Studio 1430.
