SEPTEMBER 2008

Peripheral Artery Disease: P.A.D.:

September is national P-A-D awareness month.  Peripheral arterial disease or P-A-D affects over nine million people and most aren’t aware they have it.  It’s a hardening of the arteries that leads to poor circulation, and increases your risk of heart attack, stroke, and death.  Symptoms include a painful leg cramps during walking or a numbness, weakness or heaviness in muscles.  But some patients feel a burning or aching in their feet and toes while resting.  While P-A-D is not curable, it is treatable with exercise, medications and other methods.  Talk to you your doctor or get free information from The Vascular Disease Foundation at V-D-F dot org or call 888-VDF-4-INFO.
