Volunteers of America and Studio 1430 need your support as a Snow Buddy. Help Denver Seniors stay safe and free from slippery outside walkways. As a volunteer, you’ll shovel the front walk of a Senior Denver Neighbor this winter. You can “adopt” one or more seniors in your neighborhood to ensure they have a safe walkway free from snow and ice for the duration of the snow season.

As the American Heart Association’s signature fund-raising event, the Start! Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment. This year more than 1 million walkers will participate in more than 450 events, raising funds to save lives from America’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers —heart disease and stroke.

The National Veterans Wheel Chair Games is a multi-event sports and rehabilitation program for military service veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition due to spinal cord injuries, amputations, or certain neurological problems. Attracting more than 500 athletes each year, the National Veterans Wheelchair Games is the largest annual wheelchair sports event in the world.
Competitive events at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games include swimming, table tennis, weightlifting, archery, air guns, trapshooting, basketball, softball, quad rugby, track, bowling, hand cycling, wheelchair slalom, power soccer, a motorized wheelchair rally, and field events. A whitewater kayaking exhibition event will take place at Confluence Park. Athletes compete in all events against others with similar athletic ability, competitive experience or age.
Presented by: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), with financial assistance from corporate, civic, and veteran service organizations. Hosted by The VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America Mountain States Chapter.
