Light Up The Night! Aurora Fourth of July Spectacular
Fourth of July Spectacular, Aurora’s eighth annual Independence Day Celebration, features the largest fireworks display in the metro area and a performance by the Air Force Academy Band. Fourth of July Spectacular takes place at the great lawn on the west side of the Aurora Municipal Center.

Limited seating is available on the Aurora Municipal Center lawn. The fireworks also may be viewed from surrounding areas. Best viewing locations include east of Potomac Street, south of Sixth Avenue, north of Mississippi Avenue and west of Buckley Road.

Don't forget your radio! Studio 1430 will broadcast the music for the Fireworks!

Archival Art and the Art of Mining

Beginning July 25, 2009, Georgetown, Colorado… Historic Georgetown, Inc. announces Archival Art and the Art of Mining, an art exhibition being held in the Hamill House Museum Stables.  The exhibit begins with a reception on Saturday, July 25, 2009, from 5pm to 10pm.  This exhibit is free of charge and will be on display through the month of August with a closing reception on Saturday, September 5, 2009, from 5pm to 10pm.  The closing reception will include a silent and live auction.  Artists and non-artists alike are encouraged to enter.  The entry fee is $20 for up to two pieces submitted. 

Entry Forms are available nowand must be turned in to Historic Georgetown by June 30th.  Celebrating 150 years of mining in Clear Creek County, this exhibit reflects our history and supports historic preservation and open lands in the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District.  All proceeds benefit historic preservation.  Whether you are an artist or art lover, come for the fun and support a worthy cause in Clear Creek County!

Denver Botanic Gardens presents Jurassic Gardens: Evolution and Extinction

Explore plant and animal relationships of prehistoric proportions at Denver Botanic Gardens' "Jurassic Gardens" exhibit!

The Gardens' York Street location will feature life-sized, realistic dinosaurs from the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods of the Mesozoic Era. Plant displays will showcase prehistoric plants and their modern relatives. Plant fossils and a dinosaur dig site for kids round out the installation.

Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield will host giant prehistoric bugs, including a 10-foot sea scorpion. Learn about the interdependent relationship between these amazing creatures and the plants in their environment.

These life-size sculptures are the work of artist, fossil collector and
preparation expert Guy Darrough of Lost World Studios.
