I was born November 26, 1957 in Vermillion, South Dakota. I grew up in a rural area and worked on my Grandfather’s farm as a kid. My dad, a life-long mechanic, worked as a service manager for the JI Case Tractor Company and later for the local Chevrolet-Olds-Cadillac dealer before moving to the Chrysler-Plymouth shop in the early 70’s. This is where I got the Mopar bug. Around 1971 Dad opened his own shop, where we worked on everything from farm equipment to cars and trucks. We did everything, including welding and fabricating as needed. The only thing we didn’t do was machine work, but we did grind our own valves and seats. We re-built a lot of small block Chevy engines back then, as I recall. My dad closed out his career at a Toyota dealer in Silver City, New Mexico.

I learned a lot working in the shop, and still consider myself fairly handy. I still do almost all my own maintenance and even an engine job from time to time. I have always been a car nut, having owned over 40 cars and trucks in my 46 years, including several Mopar muscle cars, like a 70 Dodge Super Bee and a 68 Road Runner just to name a few. Growing up on the farm meant spending a lot of time on the tractor listening to the radio. I thought radio sounded fun so I got into it back in the mid-70s as a 15 year old. I took some broadcasting courses at the University of South Dakota but dropped out after 2 years to do radio full-time in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I went back to school in the 1990’s and earned a marketing degree. My first job in Denver was at KAZY back in 1981. I later worked at KBPI, KNUS, KRFX, KHOW, and KLZ and now I’m at KEZW.
