JULY 2008

Heat Stroke/Exhaustion:

As the summer heats up and you spend more time outside, you increase the risk of suffering heat related illnesses. One of the most life threatening heat illnesses is Heat Stroke. If someone is experiencing heat stroke, they will have a rapid, but weak pulse, and a very high body temperature with changes in consciousness. Call 911 immediately, and get the person as cool as possible.

Heat Exhaustion can be signified by cool, flushed skin, headache, dizziness and exhaustion. If someone is experiencing heat exhaustion, get them to a cool place, loosen any tight clothing, and apply wet cloths. Also when experiencing any heat related illnesses, be sure to drink half a cool glass of water every 15 minutes. Be safe this summer by staying cool. Learn more online at Denver-Red Cross.org
