Sarah Vaughan, nicknamed “Sassy” and “The Divine One,” has been described as having one of the most wonderous voices in the world. The 3 time grammy winner sang from the time she was a little girl and was thrust onto the music scene after winning an amateur night at the famed Appollo theater in Harlem.

Sarah went on tour with Billy Eckstein and Earl Hines for a couple of years before stepping out on her own in 1945. She would find success but it wasn’t until 1948 when she switched to the Columbia label that she became a star. With releases like “Black Coffe,” "That Lucky Old Sun", "Make Believe (You Are Glad When You're Sorry)", "I'm Crazy to Love You", and "I Love the Guy", Vaughan topped charts and became a household name.

Sarah Vaughan touched audiences for over 40 years with her stunning vocals and charismatic stage presence until her death in 1990 at the age of 66. She will forever be etched in the hearts of every one that ever heard the beauty and elegance of one of jazz’s most elequent vocalists.
