Steve Hamilton is a long-time Denver radio personality. Steve became interested in broadcasting while in high school in New Jersey, when he served as the morning announcer over the school PA system.
Steve’s family relocated to Denver, Colorado in 1979 and aside from a brief stay in Lincoln, Nebraska, he’s called Colorado home for over 35 years.
After graduating from Columbine High School in Littleton, CO, Steve attended college at Colorado State University, Pueblo where he studied mass media and graduated with his Bachelor Of Science Degree in 1984.
Steve was working full-time at a commercial radio station even before he graduated college. He got his start at KCCY-FM, a country station in Pueblo where he worked for nearly five years, gaining on-air and programming experience. Steve got his first job as a Program Director in the small Colorado town of Rifle in 1985. Steve has worked all over Colorado in towns such as Vail, Eagle, Grand Junction and ultimately, Denver. He has been an active member of the Denver radio community since 1991.
He has programming experience with multiple radio formats including Adult Contemporary, Smooth Jazz, Rock, Country and News-Talk. From 1992 to 2008, Steve worked as a programmer and on-air talent at one of Denver’s top-rated stations, KOSI-FM where he served as Assistant Program Director, Program Director, Music Director and Midday On-Air Talent for over 17 years.
Steve became an AMS certified Meteorologist after graduating from Mississippi State University in 2008. He is also an avid storm chaser. Steve spends many a spring and summer afternoon out on the Colorado plains, chasing tornadoes and thunderstorms, and studying the atmosphere, which is one of his life-long passions. He is an on-air meteorologist for The Storm Report, Inc., providing customized weather forecasts for dozens of radio stations around the country.
He spent 2008 to 2010 as the Operations Manager for KKHI-FM in Denver. When that station was sold, he took control of the Smooth Jazz brand and kept it alive via Internet Radio.
Steve re-joined the Entercom Denver Radio family in February 2014 as the Public Service Director for the Denver station group, and host of the Afternoon Lounge on KEZW-AM 1430.
He makes his home on a small ranch near Elizabeth, Colorado, just to the southeast of the Denver metropolitan area.
